Intervention description

Achievement For All is a whole-school improvement framework that aims to raise the aspirations, access and achievement of vulnerable and disadvantaged pupils, including those with special educational needs and disabilities, EAL, looked-after children and children on free school meals. It can be used in primary, secondary, special schools and pupil referral units, and is tailored to meet the needs of each individual school, their context and the pupils they wish to support.

The programme aims to deliver improvements in progress and attainment in reading, writing and maths, as well as improving wider outcomes such as behaviour and attendance. Achievement For All focuses on four key elements: leadership, teaching and learning, parental engagement and wider outcomes. It follows a two-year plan, and schools implementing the programme successfully can have their achievements recognised through the Achievement For All Quality Scheme.

Professional development/training

Coaches work closely with the senior leadership team and head teachers.

Evidence Summary

Achievement For All was evaluated by the Education Endowment Foundation in 2015, but the evaluation did not meet the quality needed to change its evidence rating. They are now running a further project testing the intervention using a more robust methodology.

Key research

The Education Endowment Foundation evaluation should be available in summer 2020.
