Better Reading Support Partnership
Better Reading Support Partnership is a reading intervention for struggling readers from KS1 to KS3. Initially developed by Bradford Local Authority in 1996. The Partner uses simple assessments to select three texts for each pupil to read in each session.
A trained teacher, teaching assistant or volunteer delivers three 15-minute session per week over a period of 10 weeks. The Partner is supported by an in-school Link Teacher who manages the partnership.
Two days of local training by an accredited Every Child Counts Trainer. Half a day training for the Link Teacher. Opportunities for further accredited academic study.
Better Reading Support Partnership has not been included in any systematic reviews into the effectiveness of educational programmes.
