Intervention description

Quickfire is an application which aims to enhance question and answer activities by enabling teachers to get the responses of the entire class in real-time. The teacher asks a question, sets a timer if required, and students respond using their personal devices. Teachers can then use a teacher remote to review answers as they are submitted, before showing the anonymised answers on an interactive whiteboard in different formats (for example, as a pie chart).

Quickfire is provided by Spiral. From within the site, teachers can manage their classes and approve requests from pupils to join a class. Pupils require their own accounts to log in to Spiral and use the applications, but an email address is not required, simply a username and password.

Technology

Quickfire is web-based. No download is necessary. Supported devices include tablets, iPads, Android devices, laptops/computers, mobile phones.

Evidence Summary
